4 MONTHS AFTER TOOTH LOST

This lady had a single crown which restored a molar tooth and it had been root filled many years before; it became decayed, then it fractured, so it couldn’t be re-crowned and had to be extracted.

Because of the infection present and the anatomy of the molar tooth the site was left for four months after losing the tooth before the implant was placed; it was then left to ‘integrate’ for two months. At that time, impressions were taken and within a month the final crown was fitted.

This man had a chronic infection which led him to lose two of his lower front incisors. Because of the infection present the site was left for two months after losing the teeth before the implant was placed; it was then left to ‘integrate’ for two months. At that time, impressions were taken and within a month the final two-tooth bridge was fitted.

This lady had extensive problems with her remaining lower teeth due to infection and lack of bone around the front teeth. She wished to have a fixed alternative to her problem teeth and removable partial denture which was becoming increasingly troublesome. Her lower teeth were subsequently extracted and replaced with a removable full lower denture which she wore for only a month.

One month after the teeth were extracted four Straumann implants were placed. They were immediately restored with a provisional fixed bridge screwed directly onto the four implants.

Now a few months after the implants have been placed the patient has had a full arch permanently fixed-bridge fitted to the four lower Straumann implants; the bridge is made in milled titanium using CadCam technology by Createch in San Sebastian. The bridge and the new upper denture are made to match by our lab in Surrey to give a stunning new smile!

My wife Sue and I visited Tanzania and volunteered with Bridge 2 Aid in 2008, returning in 2012 to run Hope Dental Clinic in Mwanza. I’ve seen first hand that B2A contributes significantly to a healthier population by means of it’s unique training programme. Local Tanzanian Clinical Officers are trained in emergency dental diagnosis and treatment by UK based dentists and nurses who give up their time and contribute to the cost of allowing Rural Dispensaries to treat dental patients. This successful programme needs more funding to extend it’s reach into other parts of Tanzania and neighbouring east African countries.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

I raised £1045.00 plus £182.50 in Gift Aid – a total of £1,227.50 for Tanzanian emergency dental care! Thanks to all who donated to such a great cause

This lady had a four tooth bridge retained on three front incisors and when two teeth on the right side fractured she had to decide between a denture or a new bridge on two implants. Having tried a denture she decided she could not cope with having to take her teeth out for cleaning. The implants were placed within a month of losing the teeth and then they were left to ‘integrate’ for two months. Then impressions were taken and within a month the final bridge was fitted.
